Another Job.

It's been a week since i wrote the application for the newspaper, and we haven't heard anything back. My teacher wants us to be out doing work experience within the next few weeks, so i'm moving on.

Today, i again typed up a quick application. This time though, it was for the local radio station. After school today, i called my Grandma and asked her to pick me up. Then she drove me to the radio station, where i went in and left my application for the guy who does the programming.

My teacher's gonna call the paper. So if they say no, then i should probaby be able to get a job on community radio, and this would most likely mean hosting a 1 hour show.

I don't really need to be wished luck on this one. The guy who was there said there were lots of openings. :P

But feel free to wish me luck with the paper. :)

I was involved with college radio for nine years and loved it. I still miss it, in fact. Good luck!!

I DO wish you luck on the Paper, but trust me, the radio will be more than rewarding (let alone fun) and I hope you don't worry your self sick over this like I did my first dream job! (Pool Boy and don't you dare judge me lol, nah just joking)

Regardless of what you say: Good luck! I would love to hear 'a comfortable evening with Mirrorboy and techno/dance music'...

I worked for a HS radio station when I was in middle school, and did cutting/mixing of PSAs and other announcements. I was never 'on air' but I got to sit in the booth. It was pretty cool actually.

Much Love,
Steve

Good luck with the paper. It would be so good for you to get that experience.

If you do end up at the radio station, you might find you like it and are good at it. Bt I still hope you get the newspaper job.

It sucks that the newspaper couldn't even bother getting back to you about your work experience. It would be common courtesy even if the answer was no.

Hope it all works out for you in the end.

good luck - ur gonna kick it at whatever you end up doing - Bob has a good point about the unpaid internship at the paper - it would demonstrate how much interest you have in working there and then eventually they will want to pay you!

Question time!
Do they play like chart songs and such on said radio show? and secondary question, if you do this right THAT WOULD BE THE COOLEST JOB EVER. Third question, more like a question then the last, does the radio only run for a couple of hours a day? Tis a very poorly made website

Jealous. It might not be writing, but being on radio is pretty cool.

Ignore that last comment, I hope you get to take up the -Dutch music, news and interviews- section of the broadcast, its been lacking recently lol

I'm curious, Mirrorboy....

Does your school require you to keep your new job for a certain amount of time or are they more concerned about you doing a job search and finding a job in general?

I'm not sure your grandmother should be finding out the status of the newspaper job. That sounds like something YOU really should be doing, whether you want the job or not.

Good luck and keep us updated!

oooh if you get a job @ the radio station will u be able to podcast urself on the internet? That would be so cool. I think radio is so much more today. Newspapers are so yesterday.
