Yay.

Work experience at the radio station is finished. It got pretty boring sitting there for 6 hours a day doing pretty much nothing. :S

I emptied bins. Vaccuumed floors. Photocopied stuff. Folded things. And for the afternoon i chose a song to play each week, which became 'Mirrorboy's choice'. lol. And i also read out the community calendar each week.

But it got boring after a few weeks. There wasn't much else to do, other than a few small tasks in the morning for 3 hours, and then sitting there watching the presenter for 3 hours after that.

But now i'm glad to have my Fridays back. And speaking of having days back (does that make sense? lol), school finishes for the year in 2 weeks, and i get about 2 months break. ^___^

Has this experience made you reconsider what you may want to do when you leave school or has it reinforced the idea that to get to the top, you have to go through a lot of tedium first?

Well, at least it was work experience. You know what it's like to be the "low man on the totem pole." Hopefully you've got some idea of how things can go in a work environment, having to deal with people you might not choose to be with if it were entirely up to you, seeing bosses in action. Work environments differ, but that's one example.

Enjoy the summer hols!

So what did this educational experience teach you? How to be a housemaid, with your wages the gift of a song? I think you are ill-served by this sort of stuff. You couldn't have created the cyber community you have without a great talent to influence your peers. It's now up to you to be your own best friend and advocate. If your education is no more relevant than it is you should either change the curriculum or school, or start thinking about how to make your own destiny. Whatever it is, don't let anyone else but you define it.

Did you make any friends there? Get any contacts? That's too bad you didn't enjoy it more.

i cant wait for some time off... glad your's is coming up so soon.

And yeah... internships (work experience) are like that... you basically become an errand boy and unpaid labor... fun for all.

Peace,

YAY for Break time. That means more mirrorboy lovin' and posts each day!! Right?

Just a thought on the job, and future jobs - not that it was true in the radio station - but employers love to see MOTIVATION. They like to see YOU taking the initiative - could you have done something else extra? Organized and sorted the cd or tapes or whatever it is radio stations still use. Every little thing like that counts, and that's one thing you will eventually learn.

On the other hand, DON'T do too much and make everyone else look bad lol!!

Cheers,

A few days ago, we had a guest speaker at our school from a University. After a long, boring speech about how we should apply ourselves to be better people and get into a good school, he ended with "And remember kids, procrastination is like masturbation: in the end, you're just screwing yourself." The laughter drowned out the sound of the loudspeakers. MLIA
